Running enthusiasts gathered in Dorintosh on Saturday to jog for more than just exercise. The first annual Run for a Reason was put on to raise money KidSport, an organization which helps young athletes participate in sports they might otherwise not get to enjoy.

One dog from Meadow Lake's humane society found a home all the way up in Northwest Territories this week. Jesse, an Australian cattle dog, was adopted by Martin Hanfele, who travelled to the city from Yellowknife.

The Prairie N Forest Equestrian Club held its seventh annual horse show last weekend at the Cowboy Sandbox Arena, featuring an international mix of riding styles and participants. Unlike other horse shows in the area, the club has competitive events for both English and Western riding styles.

Carpenter High School's Spartans managed to fend off the Melfort Unit Comprehensive Collegiate Comets last weekend 20-17, winning their exhibition game. Spartan's head coach Craig Paylor commended the team's running backs, Scott McKay and Zane Brooks, on their performance.

Last weekend a bit of the Wild West moseyed on into Meadow Lake. Members of the Saskatchewan Association of Wild West Shooters came for the area's first ever cowboy action shoot at the Island Hill Gun Range on Saturday, August 28.
