17-year-old Trenton Gervais is in his fifth year of cadets. He attended the Cadet Summer Training Centre at CFB 4-wing in Cold Lake, Alta. Gervais originally went to staff percussion for the service band, but ended up with another position, Senior Leadership Course (SLC) flight staff.

A new green initiative by Ford Motor Company could one day include Saskatchewan wheat farmers. The company is using wheat straw to build interior storage bins in the 2010 Ford Flex. By using straw wheat instead of just plastic, a large amount of petroleum is saved.

A local dancer attended a prestigious summer camp in August. Goodsoil resident Kassandre Himmelsbach, 11, received a full scholarship to attend the Summer Dance Intensive at the Edmonton School of Ballet in Edmonton, Alta.
