Boys vball team takes home bronze medal
Updated 2 months ago
It was a busy final weekend for the Carpenter High School boys volleyball team as they battled it out against the top teams in the province at 5A provincials in Balgonie last weekend.
They won the majority of their games, and although they made it to the championship round, they were not able to clinch the sought -after title of the best in the province. The boys ended their very strong season with a bronze medal.
In the round robin, the Spartans faced four teams, Regina Knoll, Prince Albert Carlton, Estevan and Saskatoon Marion Graham.
The boys easily beat Regina Knoll in two sets, with scores of 25-12 and 25-12. In game two, it took a little more effort but the Spartans pulled it off winning against PA Carlton 25-23, 18-25 and 25-23. Game three, against Estevan, was a little quicker, as the CHS team won with scores of 25-18 and 25-10. The final game in the round robin was against Saskatoon Marion Graham, and the Spartans were unable to keep up. They lost 20-25 and 25-27.
CHS advanced to the championship pool, first facing the home team, Balgonie. They won that game in two sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-20.
Next they met PA St. Mary and kept the momentum through three sets, but ended up
losing 28-26, 24-26 and 25-17.
The Spartans' final game was against PA Carlton. Meadow Lake won the bronze medal game with scores of 26-28, 25-20 and 19-25.
Prince Albert St. Mary was the eventual provincial winner.
The Progress was unable to reach the CHS coaches by press time.
